King kids in the Game Program Model and Benifits

KING believes that all children should have the opportunity to receive educational programming with high-quality coaches, teachers, and mentors. We serve a diverse set of school types, neighborhoods, populations, and income levels. We have a track record serving high performing public schools (for example, PS 321 William Penn, Brooklyn School of Inquiry, Spruce Street School), low performing and Title I public schools (for example, PS 8M), parochial schools (for example, Partnership Schools network, Blessed Sacrament, Corpus Christi), independent schools (for example, Leman Manhattan, Basis Independent, Green Ivy), and others serving more targeted populations.

Outside of schools, we run educational programming for families through our sports and academics camps, youth development programming, sports clinics, special events, and youth basketball teams and leagues. The participants are from all backgrounds and neighborhoods and inclusivity and diversity are fundamentals of our program and organization. The diversity of our coaching staff also reflects the children and schools that we serve.

Uniqueness of Program Model - KING provides programming at all hours of the day, all days of the week, during all weeks of the year.

Program Benefits:
• Stronger Students: There is no shortage of research to show that increased physical activity translates to higher performance in the classroom. Schools that work with KING have more energized students that come to class ready to learn.
• Stronger Athletes: Our programs emphasize skill development in specific sports, as well as sports performance and core components of being an athlete – coordination, footwork, strength, speed, and agility.
• Stronger Leaders: Kids in the Game is focused on developing leadership skills through teamwork, healthy competition, and sportsmanship.  By learning to work in a team setting and participating in supportive environments, we are building the next generation of leaders.
• Stronger Families:  Providing a supportive, active and safe environment to allow families to thrive.  Families that exercise together, grow together.
• Stronger Schools: Kids in the Game programming helps to build a stronger community through inclusion, consistency and positivity.  By collaborating with schools on an individual and personal level, KING customizes its programming to fit the needs of their community.  Children are learning inclusive games and concepts such as teamwork, spatial awareness, sportsmanship and conflict resolution.
• Stronger City: Our programs span across all of NYC, serving public, private, and charter schools as well as families from diverse neighborhoods and backgrounds. We are rooted in our communities and partner with some of the city’s most recognizable sports-based organizations to deliver our programs.
